Garden Clubs of Staten Island

Our District is composed of four Federated Garden Clubs.

Our club was founded in 1939. Meetings are held at 12:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month (except July, August, January and February) at Holy Family Parish Center, 366 Watchogue Road, Staten Island. Refreshments are prepared and served by the members. We may have Zoom meetings in addition to / in lieu of on-site meetings in off months and/or inclement weather. Our monthly meetings include guest speakers, workshops, horticulture and designs in-club and club trips. We are involved in many community projects including maintaining the All Saints Episcopal Church 9/11 Garden, the Blue Star By-Way Memorial Garden at Ft. Wadsworth, participating at the Richmond County Fair, the Club’s award-winning Annual Photo Contest open to the community, St. Paul's Flower Festival, and celebrating "It's Your Park Day" at Annadale Park. We participate in and support First District activities, including the annual District Flower Show and attending the Philadelphia Flower Show. Our club looks forward to new members who love gardening and protecting our environment. Facebook: Castle Manor Garden Club.

Great Kills Garden Club

Our club was founded in 1954 and joined the Federated Garden Clubs of NYS in 1956. Our meetings are held at 10 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month (except January) at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 397 Clarke Avenue, Staten Island. We encourage civic beautification and maintain gardens at the entrance to Bloomingdale Park and Seaside Nature Center. We create seasonal potted plantings at various libraries and fire houses around Staten Island. We participate in numerous events around Staten Island, including the Blue Star Memorial and planting a tree for Arbor Day events. We have fund-raising bus trips, such as an annual trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show. We also work with community youth, teaching them about seed starting. Our monthly meetings always include an entertaining program about gardening, nature, floral design, horticulture, the environment, or a hands-on make-it-and-take-it workshop. This year our monthly meetings will also include brief talks on global warming and our changing planet. Coffee and cake are always served. New members interested in having fun, making friends and learning about gardening and the environment and beautifying the community are always welcome to join us. During the year, the club participates in all First District events such as "The Healing Garden Living Memorial" and Blue Star Memorial. Besides our Annual Tea fund raiser, we participate in other activities such as flower arranging, flower shows, workshops and trips. We are involved with community beautification projects with plantings at the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, St. Nicholas Chapel, the Knights of Columbus Hall, as well as a Historic Preservation project and garden restoration at Silver Mount Cemetery. Club members mentor youth groups within the community. Our members share their knowledge and creativity doing floral arrangements for our club's projects, such as providing a small decorative piece or plant to be included in food baskets in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus at Easter and Christmas. We also participate in the St. Paul's Flower Festival. Email: REGGCNY@gmail.com; Facebook: Richmond Ever-Green Garden Club.
